Leap of Faith

Dear Friends and Family,
After careful consideration and many hours of prayer – and at the urging of many of you – I have decided to run for Virginia’s 10th Congressional seat in 2010. My motivation is to serve my constituents, not myself or any special interests. My purpose for entering this race is not simply to make a statement, but to win. My intent in winning is to be part of a new generation of leaders who truly lead– not just by words spoken on the floor of the House, or in a periodic newsletter—but on the frontlines of the debate and through proactive leadership within our community.

As you know, fiscal irresponsibility, lackluster leadership, and non-responsive representation are just a few of the things that need to be changed in Washington today. The culture of compromise that characterizes Washington must be changed. Cynics say it is not possible. Certain special interests will oppose it. But true leaders know when the time has come to step in and act.

Families across my district and across the country are voicing deep concerns about the infringement of the government in our free market system and into the health care decisions that should be made within our own homes and personal relationships. We are seeing an unconscionable debt burden being amassed and passed on to our children, and the time has come to respond. To prevent an overgrown State, we must reverse course now.

An old friend once told me, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always had.” It’s obvious to me, as well as to the people of the 10th Congressional district, that we need a new crop of leaders to produce the kind of change we’re seeking. I hope to be one of those leaders for the people of the 10th Congressional district and for the future of America.

I hope you’ll join me in reversing the course of always doing what we’ve always done. United in love for our nation, our children, and our prosperity, there’s nothing that We the People can’t change.

Sincerely,
Jim Trautz
